Hello CC's! I want to pass along some info and a reminder. Please pass this on to your fellow club members. Here it goes!

First the reminder: RECHARTER YA LAZY BUMS :) (if ya haven't already). The recharter period is already almost 1/3 over. Sounds like there's plenty of time left, right? Ha! Don't forget that the later you wait, the holidays roll around and then you get busy with other things and before you know it, it's New Years Day! In all seriousness, please try to get your club rechartered by the first week of Novemeber. If you need help with your Fact Sheet, or some other issue, please contact me so we can solve the problem and get the ball rolling. By the by, as of today, only 3 of our 13 Chapters have rechartered.

Next, INFO: there have been TWO shows added to the R-11 schedule next year, and BOTH are on March 14th! No, I haven't lost my mind (at least not any more than my usual insaneness)....one of them is in Pensacola and the other is in Venice. Those two are about 10hrs apart, so I don't think they're gonna interfere with each other! You can pick which one you want to attend depending on how much driving you wish to do. As a reminder, the first show in 2009 will be Jaxcon on Feb14th; and Orlando will be hosting the R-11 Regional show on May 16/17th. You may note that the summer and fall are WIDE OPEN. I'll gladly entertain any requests to host a show at those times, so talk amongst yourselves at your next meetings. Ya got a year to put something together! Last of all, I'm proud to say that the Spacecoast guys have stepped up and volunteered to host the 2010 Regional in Titusville. The big news here is that they're negotiatiig with a hotel, as they've finally outgrown the Elks Club. When they get their dates finalized, I'll let y'all know, but it'll probably be in mid-late April, as usual.

Last of all I want to issue an invitation: IPMS First Coast is hosting a KIT AUCTION here in Jacksonville. It will be on Saturday afternoon, November 8th, from 2-6pm, at the library in Orange Park (the usual club meeting space). This will be a chance for you to sell your "goodies" and pick up others at bargain prices (my "best" was a Tamiya 1/48 Lancaster for $11!). I realize that many of you are too far away to attend, BUT, I wanted to let everyone know that they're invited and welcome! I'll be sending out details on the kit auction in a couple of weeks. If you do plan to attend, contact me for directions.

Guess that's it for now. Hope you have a safe and Happy Halloween pumpkinheads! Cheers! GIL, RC-11

Hello CC's and club officers! I just wanted to give y'all a little warning that IPMS Club rechartering begins in less than 3 weeks! You'll all be receiveing your Club Fact Sheets by Oct. 1; and will have untill 12/31 to recharter. The recharter fee is $20. So what do you need to be doing NOW?

1) Contact your members and ask them to check their IPMS memberships. Make sure they haven't lapsed. NOW is the time to renew their membership if needed!

2) All OFICERS and CC's check YOUR IPMS membership status. You MUST be an IPMS member if you're an officer, or your club cannot recharter. If you do not wish to renew your membership, you MUST step aside and allow an IPMS member to be an officer.

3) Check that you have 5 (FIVE) CURRENT IPMS members in your club.

Why should you renew? Because IPMS is the BEST support organization for people and clubs like yourselves! Because the JOURNAL is already much improved, and seemingly getting better each year (it ain't the same old cub magazine anymore!). Because you CANNOT get insurance to cover your meetings, makeNtakes, mall shows, auctions, and model shows for TWENTY BUCKS anywhere else! So you don't think you're gonna hold an event in '09? Well what about 2010? You're probably gonna want to advertise for it early on, and the lead time for Journal ads will require submissions in '09. If you're not a CHARTERED IPMS chapter, how are you going to advertise? Is saving $20 for one year worth risking your club status and your plans for the future?

If you have questions, please contact me. This isn't new; you've done this for the last couple of years now. When you get your Fact Sheet it'll also come with instructions, so don't fret in the mean time. HJowever, an ounce opf prevention is worth a pound of cure, as they say, so NOW is the time to double check your membership status as well as your club members'. That way, come Oct.1, yoy'll be set to go! Cheers! Gil Hodges, RC-11
